Planned Giving

St. John's Episcopal Church has been blessed with a tradition of generosity and an ethic of resilience. By including St. John's Episcopal Church in your will or trust or by making life income gifts to the church, you ensure the blessings of St. John's are seen and enjoyed by a new generation.

Planned giving encompasses a variety of ways that gifts can be made from accumulated resources. It leads to legacy and lets anyone concerned with the wise use of his or her personal resources make a considered choice about their ultimate disposition. Contact our office about annuities, charitable trusts, IRA charitable rollover, and/or gifts of life insurance. We'd be honored to discuss your charitable legacy with you, your family, and your counsel.

There are several ways to name St. John's as a beneficiary in your will depending on your charitable goals:

An unrestricted bequest. In making such a bequest, you may designate either a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate to St. John's Episcopal Church.

I give and bequeath to St. John's Episcopal Church in Centreville, Virginia ($__________) or (__________% of the residue of my estate).

A specified bequest. In making such a bequest, you may designate either a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate to a particular purpose or cause at St. John's.

I give and bequeath to St. John's Episcopal Church in Centreville, Virginia  ($____________) or (____________% of the residue of my estate), the income to be used only for the following purpose: (state purpose). If, in the future, it is in the opinion of the Rector or priest-in-charge, with the concurrence of the Vestry, that all or part of the income of this fund cannot be usefully applied to such purpose, St. John's may use the same for any purpose that will most nearly accomplish my wishes.

A remainder beneficiary. St. John's will only receive funds after specific sums have been paid to other designated beneficiaries.

I leave the rest and residue of my estate to St. John's Episcopal Church in Centreville, Virginia.

Making a contingent bequest provides for the distribution of assets to St. John's only if one or more of your named beneficiaries does not survive you.

In the event that any of the beneficiaries named herein (in my will) predeceases me (or predeceases me leaving no heirs), I leave the rest and residue of my estate to St. John's Episcopal Church in Centreville, Virginia.

Please do inform us if you decide to include St. John's in your estate plans so that your gift can be recognized and honored. We would be honored to discuss any of these opportunities with you, your family, and your counsel. Please contact our office for more information.
